Deregistration for exams

Deregistration for written and oral exams is possible until one week before the exam.

Registration for exams

Winter semester:

1. Period:

Lectures, Seminars*, labs*, Projektgruppen*, course work*, modules without a final exam*:

13–31 October

2. Period:

Written and oral exams (first session):

1–21 December

Written and oral exams (second session):

from 1 December until one week before the exam

Summer semester:

1. Period:

1–30 April

1–21 June

*You can only take the exam if you participated in the module. You may have to register separately for participation at or before the start of the semester. Check the module handbook, the course catalog on BASIS, and, if avaiable, the eCampus site in time. 

Admission to Bachelor's programmes

The application deadlines for admission to the Bachelor's programmes can be found on the website of the student registry.

Admission to Master's programmes

The following information applies to our Master of Science programs in Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science and Cyber Security. (For other Master's programs, please check the websites of their respective examination offices.)

Start of studies in summer semester 2026

Application is now closed.

Start of studies in winter semester 2026/2027

First application period: from 15 April to 1 May 2026.
Second application period (for EEA students only*): from 15 June until 15 July 2026.

*) Citizens of the European Union, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway count as EEA students. Students who will have completed a Bachelor's or a Master's at a university in Germany by 30 September 2026 also count as EEA students. Family members of EU citizens may also count as EEA students (for details, see the application form or §1 Abs. 2 VergabeVO NRW).

We aim to get the decisions on admission out by 15 June for non-EEA students and by 15 August for EEA students. EEA students who (voluntarily) apply in the first application period get a decision on whether they are eligible for the program by 15 June and a decision on admission by 15 August.
