From Classical Fusion to Quantum-Inspired Tracking: Advances in State Estimation and Information Fusion
Abstract: Over the past years, my research has focused on advancing the theory and methods of distributed information fusion and state estimation, with applications ranging from multi-sensor target tracking to drone detection. After many years of teaching and research engagement at the University of Bonn and the Fraunhofer FKIE, I will present selected topics that illustrate the development from classical Bayesian estimation to modern, quantum-inspired approaches.
The talk will cover key aspects of track-to-track fusion, tensor decompositions for high-dimensional state estimation and target tracking, and neural network–based computation of state densities. Further topics include Bayesian estimators for nonlinear problems, temporal joint densities for trajectory estimation (“accumulated state densities”), and the processing of out-of-sequence measurements in distributed systems. Finally, I will outline recent research on quantum algorithms for Bayesian state density computation, quantum machine learning, and quantum-inspired methods that open new perspectives for target tracking and data fusion.
Die Veranstaltung ist kostenfrei. Interessierte sind herzlich eingeladen, teilzunehmen!
