Study Abroad

The University of Bonn participates in various exchange programs that allow you to spend one or two semesters of your studies abroad.

The ERASMUS Program

The ERASMUS exchange program offers students the opportunity to spend one to two semesters abroad. In this program, students can continue their studies at selected partner universities and collect additional credit points. This program applies to all students who have completed their first Bachelor's year or are Master's students after their first semester. The funding period can last from three to twelve months, separately for each degree program (bachelor's/master's). The stay abroad is remunerated with a mobility grant depending on the country. Here you can find more general information about the ERASMUS exchange program.

With fourteen partner universities in nine different countries, Computer Science offers a wide selection. For more information, please visit the ERASMUS page of our institute and/or make an appointment with the responsible subject coordinator PD Dr. Elmar Langetepe. A selection from these permanent computer science partners is always preferable.

To get a complete overview of all partner universities of the University of Bonn, you can use the list of all permanent partner universities of the University of Bonn to search for possible locations. Locations from this list with which IT does not have a fixed contract are possible in principle, but the application process is then more competitive and a different specialist coordinator is involved.

Application for ERASMUS

The application is made via the ERASMUS subject coordinator for Computer Science. You must arrange an individual consultation appointment for this. During the appointment, you will discuss all open questions and then the application process can begin.

In order to be as certain as possible that you will be offered a place on the ERASMUS exchange program, you should at best start planning a year before your stay abroad and contact the subject coordinator PD Dr. Elmar Langetepe.
