Credits for modules taken elsewhere

Modules that you have completed successfully elsewhere, for example in other subjects or at other universities, can be counted towards your degree programme with us, provided they are of the appropriate academic level and their contents fit in your programme.

To submit an application, first check the module handbook of your degree programme, to see what knowledge and skills of which modules you have already acquired. Pay attention to the following:

  • The mathematics lectures in our degree programmes place far more emphasis on proofs than is usual in many other subject areas. Therefore, mathematics modules from programmes outside of computer science, mathematics and physics cannot usually be recognized, even if the topics covered are similar.
  • Modules that do not fit well to the modules in the handbook, can often still be recognised as electives, provided that their contents do not overlap with the contents of compulsory modules.
  • Bachelor's modules cannot be credited to Master's degree programmes.
  • Projects done elsewhere can only be recognised as a replacement for a compulsory "Projektgruppe" if the topic of the project has been agreed on in advance with examiners from the Institute of Computer Science.

Does everything look good for you so far? Then you can submit an application to have your credits counted with the following form.
