BIG Award for Outstanding Theses: Call for nominations

This year, the Bonn Informatics Society (BIG) plans to award the BIG Prize for outstanding theses in Computer Science at the University of Bonn to up to nine final theses from the three previous years 2018, 2019 and 2020 due to Corona.

In addition to the traditional prizes for master's and bachelor's theses in Computer Science, theses from the study programs Cyber Security, Life Science Informatics, and Media Informatics will also be considered for the first time. Works with special scientific value and those that illustrate the importance of computer Science or Cyber Security, Life Science Informatics and Media Informatics in their applications in a special way are eligible for consideration.

In addition to a certificate, the award winners will receive a book voucher worth 75 Euros. The festive award ceremony is scheduled together with the Grace Hopper Award on July 9, 2021 at 4 pm.

Applications are made as nominations by the respective supervisor of the thesis by June 4, 2021 via email with name and email address of the nominee, a (digital) copy of the initial review of the thesis or alternatively a short justification of the nomination, and - if possible - a digital copy of the thesis (PDF) to: Prof. Dr. Thomas Schultz ([Email protection active, please enable JavaScript.]) and Dr. Nils Goerke ([Email protection active, please enable JavaScript.]) with a copy to Prof. Dr. Reinhard Klein ([Email protection active, please enable JavaScript.]).
