Awarded: Christian Bungartz receives AFCEA Award

Christian Bungartz, M.Sc. receives a study award from AFCEA Bonn e.V. for his master thesis "Topology-based Intrusion Detection for Homogeneous IoT Devices".

Since 2008, AFCEA Bonn e.V. has awarded an annual study prize for outstanding master's theses in the fields of applied computer science, communications engineering and automation engineering with the aim of promoting the scientific qualifications of young scientists.

At this year's study award ceremony, a total of six master's theses of particularly outstanding quality were honored. Among those awarded is Christian Bungartz, M.Sc., a doctoral student in Department VI "Security and Networked Systems" in the "IT Security" working group, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Michael Meier.

At the Koblenz IT Conference 2023, Bungartz was awarded second place for his master's thesis "Topology-based Intrusion Detection for Homogeneous IoT Devices" and will receive a grant of 4,000 euros for his research. In his thesis, Bungartz investigates the possibilities of topological data analysis in the context of anomaly detection within a set of homogeneous end devices. He was supervised by Dr. Felix Boes.

Congratulations!
