IDEA at Bonn:
Chimera Prototyping Tool

The Chimera Prototyping Tool (CPT) is an experimental implementation of the Chimera data model and language. It has been designed and implemented by the IDEA team at the University of Bonn during 1995 and the first months of 1996 as a prototype system, aimed at rapid and experimental development of Chimera testcases rather than at industrial-strength development of large and complex applications. It comes with a Command Interface (CPT/CI) and a Graphical User Interface (CPT/GUI) which focus on data manipulation and schema design respectively.

The CPT is running on Sun Workstations under SunOS Versions 4 and 5. It is made available in its Prolog and Tcl/Tk source code form, and thus, the Prolog system ECLiPSe in its version 3.5.2, as well as Tcl version 7.4 and Tk version 4.0 are required.

You may...

  • ...get the CPT source code (Version 3.0, tarred and gzipped, 670 kB).

  • ...view the CPT User Manual (gzipped, 436 kB; uncompressed size is about 14 MB.)

  • ...have a look at how to Install CPT on Linux Hosts (HTML page, in german)
  • Feel free to send a mail (idea@informatik.uni-bonn.de) if you have any questions, if you are interested in further discussion or have any problems in downloading a file. Otherwise, enjoy.

Moreover, we provide some publications enabling a greater insight into the system and its usage.
