Installation Guide

You will need the Cisco VPN Client, which is available for different operating systems. Due to licensing reasons, access is only granted to members of the Institute of computer science at the University of Bonn. The most cuurent version can be downloaded from the HRZ serrver, where you need a HRZ account. Otherwise, you can download the client at our department server with your local account.

In addition, you require this profile. You may need to treat the profile on Linux systems with dos2unix, so the line breaks are encoded in the Unix format.

In addition to the CISCO clients, there is an open source vpnc client, which is available for Linux and Solaris operating systems. A usage with Cygwin on Windows is now also possible (advice, guidance and downloads of open source vpnc).

Informations about the Movian VPN Client for PocketPC and PDA can be found here.

Note:

  • 25/07/08, the profile has been updated.
  • Download: right click-> Save Target As ... Select "All Files" as file type.
  • The best location to choose as save spot is the "Profiles" subdirectory of the VPN client installation. If another directory is selected, the profile must be imported into the VPN client. You simply select the menu option Connection Entry -> Import ...
