opening for
a PhD candidate or PostDoc in the area of
bio-inspiered computer vision systems.
We seek for an excellent candidate with a strong own interest in
computer
vision, machine learning, or probabilistic inference.
Project goal is the creation of a general-purpose trainable vision
system using
hierarchical recurrent neural networks and/or hierarchical graphical
models
with loops. Various deep, locally connected network architectures and
learning
algorithms will be investigated for their ability to capture the
hierarchical
structure of the visual world. The system will be implemented on GPUs
using
CUDA and tested on real-world data sets, for example from robotics.
The position involves teaching duties of four hours per week in the
semester.
Education:
Masters (or Diploma) degree or PhD in any of Computer Science,
Mathematics, or
Physics. A strong mathematical background is highly desirable.
Advantageous is
experience in computer vision, machine learning, applied statistics,
and
excellent programming skills (Matlab or C).
Salary:
According to NRW TVL-13 annual gross starting from 37.700 Euros
(approx. USD
58.570), depending on experience.
Initial contract will be up to three years.
